Fred Riggers Disability Advocacy Day
Fred Riggers Disability Advocacy Day
Each year, the Consortium for Idahoans with Disabilities (CID) sponsors the Fred Riggers Disability Advocacy Day at the Idaho State Capitol First Floor Rotunda.
Fred was a champion for Idahoans with disabilities. After losing sight, Fred attended the legislature for years to advocate for those with disabilities.
This day is an opportunity for individuals with disabilities, caregivers, families, and organizations to go to the State Capitol and, like Fred, advocate on key issues that impact Idaho’s disability community: Direct care workforce shortage, ABLE Legislation, Medicaid, Education, and more. Advocating on these key issues with legislators can impact the decision-makers who make and change laws affecting Idaho’s disability community.
Join CID on Wednesday, February 4, 2025, from 10:00 to 1:00 at the Capitol Rotunda.
The day will start with a proclamation signing recognizing it as Fred Riggers Disability Advocacy Day. At 12:00, an awards ceremony will honor disability advocates in Idaho.
Information on resources offered by CID member organizations will be available. All are welcome to join and advocate, enjoy a cup of coffee, and have a photo taken to remember the day you made a difference.
