
Lucy Olmos, Case Manager for the Children with Developmental Disabilities Program
Lucy works with the Hispanic community, helping families of children with disabilities gain access to services and resources to meet their children’s needs. She is also the mother of a child with developmental disabilities and helps lead a support group for mothers of children with Down syndrome. She serves on the board of directors for the Treasure Valley Down Syndrome Association. Lucy is a graduate of the Partners in Policymaking program and is involved in several initiatives focused on disability advocacy. She assists the Developmental Disabilities Program in improving access to information to better meet the needs of the Hispanic community. She also helps coordinate a family support group within the program. Lucy is passionate about empowering parents to help their children reach their full potential. She also enjoys building new connections and supporting caregivers and their families.

We will discuss the application process and the role of a case manager, as well as how they can assist you in identifying the right services for your child and help you navigate the process.

Planning Tools Charting the LifeCourse Part 1
In this session, we will learn about person-centered planning and its importance in empowering individuals with developmental disabilities to define their goals, dreams, and desired supports. We will also learn about fundamental tools from the Charting the Life Course framework and how these tools can help people and families of all ages and abilities plan for a “good life”.

Planning Tools Charting the LifeCourse Part 2
In this session, we will continue building on what we learned regarding Charting the Life Course. We will explore the various ways these tools help to organize thoughts, clarify goals, and advocate for needs, emphasizing person-centered planning and promoting high expectations for everyone to live, work, love, and play in their community.
